自分の寿命が後６０年とはじき出したシェルドンは、人間が人工知能に意識を融合できるようになる時点まで長生きするため体質を改善しようと決意、ペニーとジョギングに出かけようとするが階段で足を踏み外し断念する。シェルドンは体を温存するため、自らはベッドから一歩も出ず、モニターを取り付けたロボットを遠隔操作して自分の代わりとする。レナードたちは、その姿で職場やレストランに行くシェルドンにうんざり。
