レッドは局長のアドバイザーで計量経済学者のハミルを探していたが、そのハミルが頭脳明晰な学者ばかりを狙う犯人に誘拐されたため、その誘拐犯を探すことに。レッドはレスラーたちにも「局長に知らせずにハミルを探せ」と指示、レスラーは学者誘拐事件を捜査することを局長に告げるが、中にハミルがいることは隠していた。
