レストラン「ダンカン・ドハーティー」のキッチンを取り仕切るジョーと給仕長を勤める彼の妻エリャ。ある夜、ジョーの親友ビリーを加えた３人は予言を行う怪しげなごみ収集人たちに出会う。そこで３人が聞いた予言とは次のようなものだった。「ダンカン・ドハーティーはいずれミシュランで３つ星の評価を得る」「いずれジョーがレストランの支配人となる」「ビリー本人は支配人にはなれないが、支配人の父親になる」……。未来を知ってしまったばかりに増長する野心と裏切りが、やがて自らの不安となって破滅を呼ぶ。
