連続殺人事件を追う警部ジョセフの前に立ちはだかる大いなる謎！
イギリス人警部ジョセフの管轄で起きる一家殺人事件。そして、ほどなくして起きる姉妹殺人事件。２つの事件現場の床には、同じ砂で描かれた不可解な謎の絵が残されていた。調査を進めるジョセフの周りでさらに続く猟奇殺人。殺人犯が現場に残す不可解なサインの意味は？宗教的終末思想を思わせる連続殺人の真意とは？
イスラエルから帰国したイギリス人の警部ジョセフは本国の署に配属になるが、その管轄で家族四人が惨殺される事件が起きる。被害者が不自然な格好にされているのを見て、ジョセフはこれが尋常な事件でないと直感する。そして新たな殺人が起こった。
犯人は被害者に７つの世界終末の兆候をあてはめ、世界の過ちの代表である人々に罰を与えているのだと推測された。その説が正しければ、残る兆候は４つであり、更に４件の殺人が行われることになるのだ……。
英BBCで制作されたサスペンス・ミステリー。ブラッド・ピット主演の映画「セブン」を思わせる衝撃の展開が見所。出演は、映画「ウォンテッド」のマーク・ウォーレン、TV「ＬＯＳＴ」「ラスベガス」のマーシャ・トマソンほか。
