第3の球体を発見・調査していたエンタープライズの元に救難信号が届く。助けを求めてきたのは球体を作った「創造者」の存在を信じ球体を巡礼していたトリアノン人。デルフィック領域を「選ばれし領域」と呼ぶリーダーのディジャマットはいつかお礼がしたいと言うが、実は彼はエンタープライズを乗っ取って母星での戦争に利用しようとしていたのだ。
