軍の人間の仕業だとにらむサラたちは、軍の2年前の事件を調べることにする。事件直後、分隊のメンバーは、「ペアク」という士官が、敵に包囲され避難していた家の家族を射殺したと主張していた。しかし、軍の調査で、分隊が聞いたはずの無線連絡は存在せず、「ペアク」という士官もおらず、殺された民間人の死体も見つからなかったため、分隊の主張は作り話だと判断されていた。
