海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.218　「スーパーナチュラル」ジェンセン・アクレスが憧れていたキャラクターとは？

「スーパーナチュラル」のウィンチェスター兄弟の兄ディーンを演じているジェンセン・アクレス。15シーズンに渡る付き合いとなったディーン役は、ジェンセンにとって愛着ある役のはずだ。そのディーン役について、ジェンセンが米TV番組のインタビューで語っている。
 
「ディーンの性格は向こう見ずでやけっぱち、ちょっぴり古いタイプのヒーローと言えるだろう。だけど僕はそういったキャラクターにずっと惹きつけられてきた。たとえば、インディアナ・ジョーンズ（『インディ・ジョーンズ』シリーズ）やジョン・マクレーン（『ダイ・ハード』シリーズ）みたいなキャラクターにね。
 
彼らは常に完璧なヒーローとは言い難いけれど、どうにか難局をくぐり抜け、女の子を救い、悪い奴らを叩きのめす。そしてちょっとしたジョークも忘れない。彼らのような憧れのキャラクターが、ぴったりとディーンの役にはまったのさ」
 
なるほど、恐れを知らぬタフガイ、ディーンの原型は1980年代のアクション・ヒーローにあったのだ。
 
そんなジェンセンにとってのはまり役とも、シーズン15でお別れ。お気に入りだけに別れはつらい。
 
「僕の人生の一部だからね。特に大人になってからの大部分を占めていた。僕が独身だった20代の時にこのシリーズが始まり、15年経った今、僕は40代を迎え、妻と3人の子持ち男になった。『スーパーナチュラル』は僕の人生に長く長く居続けてくれたよ」
 
「スーパーナチュラル」はジェンセンにとって青春のようなもの。そして大人へのドアは既に開いている。
 
「妻ともたくさん話し合った。人生の転換期の一つに過ぎないことは分かっているんだ。（人生の）次の章に何が起こるのか楽しみだよ。今はとてもワクワクしている」
 
寂しさなんて見せるつもりはさらさらない。ディーンとはお別れだとしても、ずっと憧れてきたタフガイを、ジェンセンはこれからも演じ続けるつもりなのだ。
