海外ドラマおすすめコラム vol.61　 15年のロングランの集大成となるクライマックス！ 「クリミナル・マインド ファイナル・シーズン」

10月のスーパー！ドラマＴＶの目玉はCSベーシック初放送となる「クリミナル・マインド  ファイナル・シーズン」だ。15年ものロングランを続けた人気作の最終章とあって、もう一話も見逃せない。エピソード数は10話に減ったが、米国のドラマ自体、各シーズンの話数は以前より少ない傾向だ。むしろ全米放送し続けたCBSは有終の美を飾るべく、製作決定の段階から最終シーズンになると決まっていた本作のため、かつて本作が放送されていた水曜夜9時枠を用意した。
 
中身だがネタバレを回避しつつ、要注目ポイントのみをご紹介したい。まずは番組史上、出演した話数の多さトップスリーは、リード役のマシュー・グレイ・ギュブラー（シーズン11の数話以外は皆勤賞）、ガルシア役のカーステン・ヴァングスネス、ＪＪ役のＡ・Ｊ・クック。まずはこの3人にお疲れさまと言いたい。特にギュブラーは計12話で監督もし、また、シーズン1では準レギュラーだったヴァングスネスは活躍が増え、本シーズン最終話で計5回目となる脚本執筆に参加。ガルシアのBAUに対する深い愛情を描いた。「そして最後に…」という邦題であるこの最終話、原題の“And in the End”は、ザ・ビートルズの最後のアルバムという声もある「アビイ・ロード」の終盤の曲「ジ・エンド」の一節の引用だとか。マニアックな筆者は、この最終話を番組史上最多エピソードを監督した（計37話）、グレン・カーショウが演出したのもぐっと来た。さらにかつて物語を盛り上げたメインキャラ＆ゲストギャラの再登場が充実しているのも熱いシーズンだ。
 
まるで各話が40分強の高品質ミステリー映画を思わせたこの「クリミナル・マインド」だが、やはり魅力的なメインキャラたちと彼らのコンビネーションがあったからこそ達成できた、15年ものスーパーロングランだと感じる。前出のザ・ビートルズでさえ活動期間は約10年だった。歴史的なフィナーレをぜひ体験してほしい。
