海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.416　 「NCIS: ハワイ」主演女優ヴァネッサ・ラシェイはドラマも現実もワーキングマザーのスーパーウーマン

米海軍及び海兵隊が関わる事件をドラマチックに、時にユーモアを込めて描く全世界の人気シリーズ「NCIS」。その最新スピンオフ「NCIS: ハワイ」で主役に抜擢されたのは、噂されていたベテラン女優のジェニファー・エスポジートではなく、意外にもヴァネッサ・ラシェイだった。
 
ヴァネッサ・ラシェイの女優としての知名度は米国でもそれほど高くないだろう。ヴァネッサが注目され始めたのは、その姓が示す通り、ニック・ラシェイと交際し始めてから。ボーイズグループ、ナインティーエイト・ディグリーのリード・ボーカルだったニックと交際、そして結婚。出演していたリアリティショーでは機転の効いたトークが光る、女優というよりタレントのような存在だった。
 
その後も、ニックの妻として、3人の子の母として、そしてタレントとして活動しながら、徐々に女優業に重きを置き、今回の大役をつかんだのだ。ヴァネッサ演じる主任捜査官ジェーン・テナントは、外交的かつ戦略家。男性優位な海軍内で組織の壁にぶち当たりながらも出世の階段を駆け上がってきた。また仕事だけでなく、家庭に戻れば、ワーキングマザーとして、ほぼ一人で子育てや主婦業もこなすスーパーウーマンでもある。
 
女優としてのキャリアはこれからだが、今回の大抜擢にヴァネッサの喜びもMAX。自身のインスタで「どれほど光栄に感じているか表現もできません。NCISシリーズに初の女性の主役として参加できること、そしてそれがあの美しい島々ハワイでの出来事なのですから!! CBSの方々が私を信じてくださって感謝しています。さあ、これからバリバリ働きましょう! 」と興奮一杯のコメントを残している。
 
「NCIS: ハワイ」、その他の出演はヤスミン・アル=ブスタミ、ジェイソン・アントゥーンら。個性的な面々が、ハワイを舞台にどんなドラマを繰り広げるのか、今から楽しみだ。
