海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.503　 「BONES ―骨は語る―」のデヴィッド・ボレアナズ、俳優への夢を意識した大作映画とは？

「BONES ―骨は語る―」のデヴィッド・ボレアナズが、俳優への夢を初めて意識した少年時代の思い出を語っている。
 
高校時代はフットボールなどスポーツに明け暮れ、真剣に演技に向き合い始めたのは、映画と写真を専攻した大学生の頃だというデヴィッド。演技については、ちょっぴり遅めのスタートだったが、俳優への夢は少年時代から芽生えていた。
 
「演技に対して、最初にインスピレーションが生まれたのは、僕が人生なるものを分かり始めた子供の頃だったよ。父に連れて行ってもらった映画『トラ・トラ・トラ！』でドルビーサウンドを経験したんだ。座席に響き渡るゼロ戦の音にわくわくしたものさ」 デヴィッド少年を映画に連れて行った父の選択も洒落ていたのだろう。『王様と私』では、主演のユル・ブリンナーの演技に感動し、王様を演じ切る姿に心を奪わた。
 
「そうした小さな感動の積み重ねが、僕に演技の道を選ばせたんだ。旅だって勉強になるものさ、いろんな人物に出会えるからね。舞台に出るばかりが演技の勉強じゃないんだ、現実での人との出会いが演技に生きてくるのさ、人間観察だよ」
 
少年時代の夢叶ったデイヴィッドだが、もし俳優になっていなかったら？
 
「芸術が好きなんだ。物作りもいいね。作るとしたら美味しいワインかな。自分の畑でワインを醸造できたら最高じゃないか」 ブドウに限らず、畑仕事そのものが好きなのだとか。大工仕事も苦にならないし、旧車いじりも趣味の一つ。
 
「趣味がたくさんある。そこから（演じる）人物を生み出せたら最高だね」
 今のところ、吸血鬼（「バフィー 〜恋する十字架〜」「エンジェル」）、FBI特別捜査官（「BONES ―骨は語る―」）、米海軍（「SEAL Team/シール・チーム」）と趣味を生かした役とは無縁ではあるが、いつの日か望む人物を演じる時が来るかもしれない。 準備は万端。その時が来るまで、デヴィッドは趣味に仕事に全力を尽くす。
