海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.592 　「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」シーズン3を救ったのは米エンタメ界の女王!

2019年、米CBSで放送がスタートした「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」。シーズン3からは放送局が変わり、OWNにて放送されている。
 
OWNは2011年に開業した比較的新しいケーブル局。しかし米国での知名度は抜群だ。女性、特に黒人女性から高い支持を受けている。
その理由は、OWN(Oprah Winfrey Network)の名前どおり、米エンタメ界の女王オプラ・ウィンフリーが設立したケーブル局であること。貧困家庭で育った黒人のオプラは、自身のトークショー「The Oprah Winfrey Show(原題)」のホストとして実力のみで現在の地位を築き上げた米国のスーパースターなのだ。
 
「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」の主演女優もオプラを崇拝してやまない。マーベルのTVシリーズ「Ｍａｒｖｅｌ ルーク・ケイジ」でブレイクを果たし、「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」では、製作総指揮の一人にも加わったシモーヌ・ミシックだ。
「オプラはずっと私の家にいたような気がします。だって私は『The Oprah Winfrey Show(原題)』を見て育ったのですから。彼女の雑誌や本の愛読者でもありました」
黒人女性、そして女優として厳しい競争を勝ち抜いてきたシモーヌにとって、オプラはずっと憧れの人。
「オプラが私たちの番組を(CBSから)引き継いでくれて、“女王”に救われたような気分でいます」
 
「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」がOWNの一員となり、シモーヌと“女王”の距離はぐっと近くなった。そして何よりシモーヌを感激させた出来事もあった。
「(シーズン3で)最初のリハーサルをしていた時、後になってオプラがやってきたんです! そしていかに私たちの番組を愛しているか、言葉をかけてくれたのです」
オプラ自身が「オール・ライズ 判事ローラ・カーマイケル」のファン、それこそがOWNに放送を引き継いだ理由だという。シモーヌら出演者・スタッフ一同にとって、最高級の励ましの言葉になったはずだ。
 
放送局が変わり、心機一転となったシーズン3。オプラも毎週楽しみに視聴していたことだろう。
