海外ドラマおすすめコラム vol.91　最終章であっても濃密な面白さを期待させる「グッド・ファイト ファイナル・シーズン」

4月のスーパー！ドラマＴＶの目玉は「グッド・ファイト」ファイナル・シーズン(シーズン6)だ。
常盤貴子が主演の日本版、「愛の不時着」などのスタジオ・ドラゴンも参加した韓国版や、中国版、ベトナム版、インド版、ロシア版も作られた人気ドラマ「グッド・ワイフ」のスピンオフだが、同ドラマの重要キャラ、ダイアン・ロックハート(クリスティーン・バランスキー)のその後を中心に描く。
 
全米の地上波局CBSらしく各シーズンが計22・23話だった「グッド・ワイフ」と異なり、各シーズンがそれぞれ7～13話しかないのがユニーク(ファイナル・シーズンは計10話)。
「グッド・ワイフ」を生んだクリエイターコンビ、ロバートとミシェルというキング夫妻は本作をより濃密にするのに成功した。そして「グッド・ワイフ」はヒラリー・クリントンをモデルにするなど、法律ドラマの中に米国の現実を反映させていたが、「グッド・ファイト」もそう。シーズン5はコロナ禍を背景にしつつ、2020年の米国大統領選挙と翌年の米合衆国議会議事堂襲撃事件、“キャンセル・カルチャー”“ヘイトクライム”などの社会問題を取り上げ、本国で高い評価を獲得。同時にブラックユーモアもふんだんで、大いに楽しめた。
 
「グッド・ワイフ」から数えて13シーズン目となったこのシーズン6で、キング夫妻は有終の美を飾る決意をしたようだが、今シーズンも引き続いて意欲的だ。
特にキャスティング、「グッド・ワイフ」のイーライ(アラン・カミング)、エルズベス(度々監督も務めるキャリー・プレストン)が登場するが、なんとエルズベスが主人公の新スピンオフが今年2月から全米放送中。また新キャラのレインを演じるのはアンドレ・ブラウアー。「ホミサイド／殺人捜査課」などで海外ドラマ好きにはおなじみだが、惜しくもシーズン6の全米終了後の2023年12月11日、61歳で早逝してしまった。
名優の最後のドラマがこの秀作ということに運命的なものを感じる。
