海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.597 　共演から4年経過も　「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」主要キャストの死をキーファー・サザーランドら悼む

キーファー・サザーランド(「24 -TWENTY FOUR-」)が主演のTVドラマシリーズ「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」。2016年から3シーズン製作された、人気の政治サスペンスだ。トム・カークマン大統領を演じたキーファーを中心に、有能なFBIエージェント、ハンナ・ウェルズ役のマギー・Q、ホワイトハウス報道官セス・ライト役にカル・ペンなど話題のキャストが脇を固めた。
 
その中でカークマン大統領の右腕となる首席補佐官のアーロン・ショアを演じていたのは、メキシコ人俳優のエイダン・カント。ケヴィン・ベーコン主演の「ザ・フォロイング」で注目されると、その後は米ABCの「Blood＆Oil(原題)」にもレギュラー出演し、「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」の主要キャスト入りにつながった。
最近では2022年にスタートした「The Cleaning Lady(原題)」に準主役として出演していたが、健康上の理由で最新シーズンのシーズン3には登場せず。密かに病魔と闘っていたものの、2024年1月8日、虫垂ガンにより亡くなった。42歳の若さだった。
 
3シーズンを共に駆け抜けた「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」のキーファーは、悲しい知らせにすぐさまSNSにメッセージを寄せた。
「エイダンの死を知り、心を痛めている。彼は素晴らしい心の持ち主だった。俳優として彼の心持ちには敬意を示さざるを得ない。常により良く、偉大にさえなろうとしていた。彼の死は本当に惜しい。そして彼の妻、ステフ、2人の小さなお子さんにもお悔み申し上げる。エイダン、安らかに眠ってほしい」
同じくマギーもSNSで哀悼。「あなたのような人格者はハリウッドにはもったいないと思っていました。優しくて心が温かく、寛大な心の持ち主でもありました。そして自分の家族には100％正直でいました。彼は本当にいつも正しい行いをする人でした」と、エイダンの誠実な人柄を称えた。
 
「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」が終了してすでに4年が経過。それにもかかわらずスーパースターのキーファーやマギーがすぐに追悼の意を示したことからも、その人柄がしのばれる。誰からも愛されたエイダン、その演技は「サバイバー: 宿命の大統領」や「ザ・フォロイング」など作品を通して、ファンの心にも永遠に遺り続けるだろう。
