海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.601 　オレたちの物語はまだ終わらない 「S.W.A.T.」新シーズン更新決まる

米CBS「S.W.A.T.」新シーズンの更新が発表された。シェマー・ムーア主演のアクションシリーズは、数々の難関を乗り越え、今秋以降放送のシーズン8を迎える。
 
ちょうど一年前のことだ。当時、シーズン6終盤を放送中の「S.W.A.T.」に打ち切りの一報が流れた。映画顔負けのアクション、複雑なストーリーライン、キャストの熱演、そして熱心なファンベース、どれを取っても現時点では最高レベルのTVシリーズだが、製作サイドと放送ネットワークとの折り合いがつかず、シーズン6をもって終了とされた。
そこからシェマー、ファンらが継続を訴え、SNSをにぎわせた。その熱意が上層部を動かし、再考の末、新たに更新するシーズン7をもって最終シーズンとすることで決着したのだ。
打ち切りからの大どんでん返しは結果的に吉と出た。ファンの団結を生んだだけでなく、それまで番組を見たことのなかった層からも注目を浴びた。シーズン7の初回放送はシーズン1に次ぐ視聴者数を稼ぎ、ネットフリックスなど配信でも好調。「S.W.A.T.」人気はシーズンを重ね、最高潮の勢いとなった。
 
その人気に、一度は決着していたシーズン7での終了が再び覆された。シーズン8の更新が決まったのだ。
 
「S.W.A.T.」新シーズン更新にシェマーの感情も爆発だ。
「『S.W.A.T.』が帰ってくる! 奇跡を信じて良かったよ!! この番組と、今の僕らを作り上げるため努力してくれた皆を誇りに思う。『S.W.A.T.』を応援してくれた世界中のファン、番組を見てくれた視聴者、支持してくれた皆に感謝します。皆がいるから、『S.W.A.T.』は輝けるんだ」と喜び一杯の声明文を発表。
さらに自身のSNSでは、番組のキャスト、スタッフを前に行ったスピーチ動画をアップ。「『S.W.A.T.』ファミリーの皆、オレたちは終わらないぞ、シーズン８が始まるんだ！」と感極まったシェマーが高らかに叫ぶと、周囲の“ファミリー”が拍手喝采、愛される主役を盛り上げた。
 
1年の間に2度の打ち切り危機を乗り越えた「S.W.A.T.」。キャスト、スタッフ、ファンが一体となって生み出した奇跡だ。「S.W.A.T.」の物語はこれからも続く。
