ダニー・ワイルド―ニューヨークのスラム街から独力で財界のトップクラスに踊り出て、億万長者にのし上がった実力派のアメリカ青年。通称「ヤンキーの旦那」。ブレット・シンクレア―イギリスの名門貴族の子弟として常に表通りを歩んできた男。通称「殿様」。この趣味も育ちも性格もまるっきり違うダンディな二人は、冒険好きなところが共通点。なにかにつけて張り合っているうちに、彼らに目をつけた元判事フルトンによって知らず知らずのうちに正義を守る英雄に仕立てられ、危険に満ちた生活に足を踏み込むことになる…。
