イラクの海兵隊連隊司令部。テントに仕掛けられた爆弾が爆発、予備役の兵士17名が命を落とす。犠牲となったのはオクラホマの小さな町クレスゲ出身の若者たち。ただ1人、スコット・ヴァン・アースデイル上等兵が助かり、ハーモンとバドが遺族の法的な相談に乗るため派遣される。さらに、逮捕された爆破犯マムーンの母親があちこちで抗議活動をしているため、マックは苦情処理のためイラクへ飛ぶ。
