海外ドラマおすすめコラム vol.86　20カ国近くでリメイクされた英国発の大ヒット番組! 米国版「発見！ファミリー・ルーツ（2011）」上陸

11月のスーパー！ドラマＴＶの目玉は「発見！ファミリー・ルーツ（2011）」の独占日本初放送。
 
過去の放送分「発見！ファミリー・ルーツ（2010）」「発見！ファミリー・ルーツ（2012）」をご覧でない方は、同じ11月のアンコール放送をぜひチェックしてほしいが、各界のセレブが自身の先祖をたどる、華やかなドキュメンタリー。意外な発見に感動したり衝撃を受ける彼らが、いつもは見せない素顔を見せるのが見どころで、まさに“事実は小説より奇なり”。
本作は2010年開始のアメリカ版だが、オリジナル版は2004年に英国のBBCで始まり、今年ちょうど満20年に到達した英国の国民的番組だ。世界的にも大反響を呼び、ポーランド、オーストラリア、ドイツ、ロシアなど、なんと20カ国近くでリメイク。
アメリカ版はドラマ「フレンズ」(10月28日に出演者マシュー・ペリーが急逝したのは残念)で知られる俳優リサ・クドローらが製作総指揮。「フレンズ」でおばかなフィービーを演じたクドローだが、自分が出演していない作品もプロデュースするなど積極的だ。
 
さて今回初放送の「～（2011）」は4エピソードをご紹介。登場する面々は引き続いて充実し、「恋におちたシェイクスピア」でアカデミー賞の主演女優賞に輝き、「アイアンマン」シリーズなど“マーベル・シネマティック・ユニバース”のペッパー・ポッツ役で活躍するグウィネス・パルトロー、最近では「SHE SAID/シー・セッド その名を暴け」で自身を演じて映画ファンの度肝を抜いたアシュレイ・ジャッド、全米の代表的カントリー歌手(妻はフェイス・ヒル)だが、日本人には映画「しあわせの隠れ場所」などの俳優としてなじみがありそうなティム・マッグロウなど豪華顔ぶれ。
 
各国版のそれぞれに面白さがあると思うが、アメリカ版は移民の国とあってセレブのルーツを追うべく、海外ロケも多くて気合がたっぷり。2022年に全米放送されたシーズン11までに80人以上のセレブが登場。しばらくは目が離せないヒット番組だ。
