海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.566 　SNSで変死体のフリをし続けた男、「CSI: ベガス」で念願のTVデビュー

SNSにはさまざまな目立ちたがり屋が存在する。ケンタッキー州に住むジョシュ・ナリーさん(42歳)もその一人。
 
ナリーさんは、一年近くの間、街のあちこちで変死体のフリをした姿をTiktokに投稿し続けていた。その投稿はいたってシンプル。ある時はゲームセンターのゲーム機の前で、ある時は街路樹の木の下で、ある時は野原にうつぶせになって死んだフリ。通りすがりの人から何と思われようと構わず、変死体のフリを、なんと300回以上もチャレンジしてきたという。
「僕はカメラの前で話したりするのは苦手なんだ。だから死体役ならできるんじゃないかと考えた。もう300回以上、死んだフリを演じてきたからどんどん上達していると思うよ」(ナリーさん)
 
撮影した動画を見直してみると、最初のうちはひそかに呼吸をしているのがバレバレだったり、血のりが気味悪く見えたとか。以来、血のりを使うことは止め、呼吸を止めるコツも覚えた。
そんな地道な努力を続けていた、ある日のこと。
「CBSからEメールが届いた。僕のTikTokを見たって。それで『CSI: ベガス』に出てみないかって言うんだ」(ナリーさん)
最初はとても信じられなかったと言うのは当然だろう。米CBSの人気シリーズから突然の出演依頼なのだから。ナリーは俳優志望というわけではない。地元レストランのマネージャーとして働いている、ごく普通の一般人なのだ。
「CBSは僕にカリフォルニア行きの航空券をくれた。出演エピソードの監督が偶然にもマリオ・ヴァン・ピーブルズ(映画『ニュー・ジャック・シティ』)で、彼に会うことも出来た。最高の気分だったね」(ナリーさん)
 
ナリーさんのキャスティングについて、「CSI: ベガス」の製作総指揮の一人、ジェイソン・トレーシーは「ジョシュほど死体役に慣れている俳優はめったにいないよ。彼の仕事ぶりを見るのは楽しかった。死体役にかけてはプロ中のプロだ」と絶賛。同じく製作総指揮のジョナサン・リットマンも「ナリーは僕らの番組のファンらしくて、全身全霊で打ち込んでくれた。エキストラ以上の仕事をしてくれたよ」と感謝の言葉を送っている。
SNSでの注目を受け、ナリーさんの元にはミュージックビデオや低予算映画からオファーが届いているという。
「CSI: ベガス」でも死体役での出演だったが、今は少しだけ自信がついた。
 
「いつかは台詞のある役を演じてみたいね」
ナリーさんが登場するのは、「CSI: ベガス」シーズン2第6話「天才シェフの最後の晩餐」。物言わぬ熱演(?)をお楽しみに!
