海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.609 　ウィリアム・シャトナー、「宇宙大作戦／スタートレック」に再登場するとしたら?

「宇宙大作戦／スタートレック」のウィリアム・シャトナーが、地元カナダのメディアの取材に答え、レジェンド・シリーズ復帰の可能性について語った。
 
「なかなか面白いことを言うじゃないか」
「スタートレック」シリーズ復帰の問いにちょっぴり皮肉めいて答えるウィリアム。
レジェンド・シリーズ「宇宙大作戦／スタートレック」にジェームズ・T・カーク船長役で出演していたのは、1960年代後半。今から60年近く前、ウィリアムが30代半ばのことなのだ。
 
御年93歳にはさすがにキツイ。
「まあ、あり得ないだろうけどね」とつれないものの、「もし、素晴らしい脚本で良い役なら考える」とウィリアム。
ただの顔見せ、カメオ出演ならまっぴら御免だ。ちゃんとした筋書きがあってこそ、自分の存在が必要とされていることが肝心なのだとか。
 
ストーリー次第では、かつてのカーク船長の再登場だって夢じゃない。
「顔を若返らせるCGI技術があるからね。画面上で10歳、20歳、50歳も若返らせることができるというよ」
映画『ジェミニマン』ではスクリーンに若返ったウィル・スミスが登場し、観客を驚かせた。ハリウッドのテクノロジーは、スターを若返らせることさえ可能にしたのだ。
とはいえ、ウィリアムにとって「スタートレック」には一区切りついているようだ。ジョークで逃げた。
「たとえば、カーク船長の体を凍結保存して、その頭脳だけを取り出すなんてどうだい? さあ、塩とこしょうを振りかけて、カーク船長が生き返ったよ! なんてね」
 
「宇宙大作戦／スタートレック」人気が現代まで引き継がれているのは、精悍かつ勇敢なカーク船長のカリスマがあってからこそ。テクノロジーの力など借りずとも、その雄姿は「宇宙大作戦／スタートレック」始め、過去のシリーズ、映画でいつまでも輝いている。
