ガン患者の少年ショーンが再びERを訪れる。検査により、今までの化学療法では効果が無かったことが分かるが、彼は次の化学療法を受ける決心をしていた。少年はルイスに恋をし、少しでも側に居たかったのだ。行方不明になった弟エリックを自殺したものと諦めるアビー。それに反して、母マギーはあくまでその存在を信じていた。そこにエリックの安否を知らせる電話が入る。
