海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.173　「Star Trek: Picard（原題）」開始以前にシーズン2更新

米CBS All Accessで配信される「Star Trek: Picard（原題）」が、1月23日の配信開始を待たず、シーズン2を更新することが分かった。
 
撮影地カリフォルニアの州機関であるフィルム・コミッションが「Star Trek: Picard（原題）」シーズン2についても、税控除を与えると発表したもの。「Star Trek: Picard（原題）」は、1987年から7シーズン放送された「新スタートレック」のスピンオフ。映画も1994年から4作製作された人気シリーズだ。
 
「新スタートレック」同様、主役は全「スタートレック」シリーズの中でもトップクラスの人気キャラクター、ジャン・リュック・ピカード。オリジナル同様、パトリック・スチュワート（『X-メン』）を主演に、従来のシリーズとは一線を画す、大人の「スタートレック」を目指すという。
 
「Star Trek: Picard（原題）」は、パトリック・スチュワートの他に、サンティアゴ・カブレラ（「HEROES/ヒーローズ」）、ミシェル・ハード(「ブラインドスポット タトゥーの女」）、アリソン・ピル（「アメリカン・ホラー・ストーリー: カルト」）ら海外ドラマではおなじみの面々が出演。
 
加えて、準レギュラー／ゲストには、「新スタートレック」でアンドロイドのデータを演じたブレント・スパイナー、同じくライカー副長を演じたジョナサン・フレイクス、またシリーズは違うが「スタートレック:ヴォイジャー」でセブン・オブ・ナインを演じたジェリ・ライアンも出演するという。
 
配信開始を約一ヶ月後に控え、主演のパトリック・スチュワートも、ファン向けのコンベンションやTVのトーク番組への出演が増えており、PRは万全。あとはオンエアを待つのみ。
 
シーズン2の製作が決まり、キャスト、スタッフそしてファンも、シーズンを重ねてストーリーが発展する楽しみを共有できそうだ。
