ニュースキャスター、デリア・リバーズがジャックの留守電にメッセージを残した直後、姿を消す。彼女はある情報源から証言を得てクラブのオーナー、フレディ・カターンの悪事を追っていた。ジャックらは情報源が、カターンの右腕、モンデシーではないかと疑うが、やがてモンデシーは死体で発見される。デリアは上着の検査を民間の研究所に依頼しており、自分に何かあったらジャックに渡すようにと知人に頼んでいた。ジャックらはデリアがフレディを追う傍ら、えん罪の死刑囚を救おうとしていたことに気付く。
