コリンを診察したDr.ブラウンは、手術によって彼を昏睡状態から目覚めさせることは可能だと両親に告げる。しかし、あくまで実験的な手術であり、リスクは伴う。ブラウンに期待していたエイミーは、ハート夫妻から「ブラウンに手術を断られた」と聞かされ、ショックを受ける。以前はリスクを恐れなかったブラウンの、彼らしくない態度にエフラムは驚き、父を責める。
