ある小さな町で13歳の少女デイジーが行方不明になる。この町では7年前にもアンバーという13歳の少女が暴行され殺されるという事件が起きており、交際相手だったカーティスが有力な容疑者と見なされていた。結局不起訴処分になったが、このデイジーの事件でも第一容疑者として名前が挙がる。早速取り調べをするジャックたちだが、カーティスは事件との関わりを否定。やがて聞き込みにより、デイジーが最近急にグレ始めたこと、そしてアンバーの事件に強い興味を示し、アンバーの父親に事件のことをしつこく訊いていたことがわかる。
