息子ジャックとニューヨークに来ていたホッチのもとに弟ショーンから電話が入る。ショーンがバーテンダーとして働いていたクラブで女性客が体中から血を流して死亡したという。警察はエクスタシーの過剰摂取として片付けたが、1週間前に恋人リンダを同じ症状で失ったショーンは不穏なものを感じ兄に助けを求めたのだった。
