カンザスシティで日系人のヤマダ一家が失踪。父親、母親、長女の3人は射殺体で発見され、末っ子のスコットは行方不明、遺体を発見した流れ者のネイサンは姿を消していた。BAUのメンバーがカンザスに向かう途中、新たな家族失踪の知らせが入る。父、母、長女、長男の4人からなるアクリン家で、ヤマダ家と酷似した家族構成だった。
