死刑執行を間近に控えた死刑囚リッキー・ウィルソンの父マークが失踪。リッキーは11年前、コンビニに強盗に入り、店長と、たまたま居合わせた若い夫婦を殺害したとして死刑を宣告されていたが、マークは息子の無実を信じ、それを証明しようと奔走し続けていた。マークは事件の目撃者を調べていたが、その中の 1人ケン・ハモンドが、マークに暴行を受けて重傷を負う。そんな中、連邦最高裁がリッキーの再審理請求を却下し、死刑は予定通り執行されることになるが…。
