カリフォルニアでヒ素による毒殺が相次ぐ。被害者は性別もタイプもバラバラだが、皆24時間以内に死ぬという手書きの宣告を受け取り、遺体と一緒に麻紐が置かれていた。4人目の被害者は奇跡的にヒ素を摂取する前に発見されるが、警察への通報をロッシが受けている最中に刺殺されてしまう。
