ロサンゼルスで2ヶ月に4件の強盗が発生。黒いスキーマスクを被った単独犯によるもので、用意周到、人質の服を脱がせてから金を奪うという手口は熟達していた。しかし3件目から手口が微妙にブレ始める。犯人のプロファイリングと手口の変化の解明のため、BAUが出動するが、この任務の準備で長男ジャックの診察に付き合えなかったホッチは妻ヘイリーに責められ、暗い気持ちのままロス入りする。
