ヴァージニア州のフレデリクスバーグで６週間のうち３人の若い女性が誘拐され、最初の被害者はバラバラ死体で発見される。被害者は残酷な拷問を受けていたらしい。拷問の跡や遺体の解体の手口が27年前の誘拐殺人事件と同じであることから同一犯の疑いが濃く、BAUは27年前の担当保安官だったコールフィールドの協力のもと、捜査に乗り出す。
