1987年、ロッシは、とある夫妻の殺人現場に遭遇する。幼い遺児コニー、ジョージー、アリシアを不憫に思ったロッシは、事件現場の家を密かに買い取り、きょうだいの成長を見守りつつ個人的に犯人を捜していたが、あと一歩で犯人像がつかめないまま、事件発生から20年が経とうとしていた。
